If you are following our Tuff Spot A-Z Challenge do not worry. I know today’s letter is L and we have posted our L is for Letter Tuff Spot already. The reason for our additional Nature Tuff Spot activity today is because we are participating in the Outdoor Play Challenge hosted by Building Blocks and Acorns.
30 bloggers from around the world are sharing their outdoor play activities – take a look at the fantastic activity ideas. We couldn’t resist the opportunity of taking our Tuff Spot Tray (affiliate link) outside.
We had the perfect setting. Nana and Grandad have recently cleared a section in their wood. I placed the Tuff Spot in the middle of the wood and Adam and Beth set about filling it with items they could find.
Luckily Nana and Grandad have cut many pieces of dead wood into smaller sections. The wood is covered in ivy and made a wonderful woodland area for our creatures to live in. Adam and Beth spent ages hunting around the wood to fill the Tuff Spot and picked up dead leaves to cover the Tuff Spot base.
I purchased four woodland creatures from Wilco for the activity. We had a fox, squirrel, hedgehog and a badger. Beth and Adam had created the perfect Nature Tuff Spot for the four creatures to live in.
The toddlers had created different areas for each woodland creature to live. They even managed to find a chair for squirrel to sit at.
Beth spent ages playing with the Nature Tuff Spot. She kept hiding each woodland creature before finding them somewhere to sleep. She even decided that squirrel wanted to sit at a table. However the piece of wood Beth found for the table wouldn’t stay upright so she decided it was her bed instead.
In true Adam style when we are at Nana’s house he is not interested in the play activity. He was too busy climbing Nana’s tree that is over the dyke, attempting to rescue Nana who had fallen into the dyke, throw sticks into the dyke and throw stones over Nana’s bridge.
We certainly embraced the Outdoor Play Challenge and can’t wait for more outdoor fun – especially in Nana and Grandad’s wood! Remember to take a look at the other amazing activities involved in the Outdoor Play Challenge.
