We love reading ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle so after a bit of time on Pinterest I found this caterpillar activity from The Bottomsup blog.
On Day 27 I got Adam to ‘paint’ some pegs by adding pegs and green paint to zip-loc bags. We used two shades of green.
He pegged them onto a polystyrene circle, with lots of help, which I later cut out.
However I remembered why I do not like art when there is an end product. Art is much more fun when it based on the process rather than the product. It was a heavily adult led activity as Adam doesn’t yet have the finger strength to accurately open the pegs. I used the foam paper to make eyes and antenna and used superglue to attach them.
See it all on video:
* Wooden pegs
* Green paint – I used two shades
* Zip-loc bags
* Foam paper
* Polystyrene circle or card – anything that you can attach the pegs to and cut afterwards
* Super glue
Adam was 18 months old.
