We are participating in a Christmas Read and Play Blog Hop. We couldn’t resist sharing with you our favourite Christmas story – Aliens Love Panta Claus by Claire Freedman and illustrated by Ben Cort (affiliate link). At the end of the story the aliens decorate a Christmas tree in underpants so we created our own Aliens Love Panta Claus Christmas tree and decorated it with underpants!
This activity follows on from our Christmas Play Dough Aliens. We made green play dough and laminated underpants using the great resources from Twinkl. On the table Adam had access to pipe cleaners, googly eyes, embroidery rings and laminated Santa’s hats. I made a rough Christmas tree shape out of the green play dough and then let Adam choose how to decorate it.
Adam had great fun pushing the underpants into the play dough. He had to press quite hard to get the laminated underpants to stay in place but it was a great activity to develop his fine motor skills. He wrapped the pipe cleaners around the Christmas tree and topped it off with a Santa hat.
What I love about this activity is that everything can be taken off the Christmas tree and packed away ready for another day. Adam has had the Christmas tree play dough out every day since and it looks exactly the same as when we first started to play. This activity will certainly last all throughout the festive season.
